Guyana simply couldn’t cope with the pace and dynamism of Costa Rica on Tuesday night as they were defeated 4-0.
Guyana yet again recorded a loss, and a heavy one at that, as they failed to improve and learn from their 3-1 defeat to Mexico last Friday night in Group B.
In all fairness, though, they were up against a stylish and competitive Costa Rica side. Alvaro Saborio’s goal put the visitors 1-0 up after 19 minutes before he completed his double moments later.
And the striker made it three on the night as he netted midway through the second half. The rout was completed when Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell’s looping effort beat Ronson Williams in the Guyana goal.
Guyana sit last in the group, and can take great lessons from these round of games as they come up against some of the very best around in the CONCACAF.
